Quarantine Issue

Hello Mark,

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. We will help you to resolve it.

Could you please share the screenshot (http://https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=AVG-Create-screenshot) of the AVG alert which shows blocked message?

You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on Answer & then click on the Image [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I have been using PAID AVG for years, and also AHK (Scripting tool language).
Up until today I have had no issues with either.

As of now, AVG keeps quarantining my script (which has not changed) and the directory where I keep all my scripts has become locked (I can view it but cannot put the script back in the directory).

Every time I try to replace it, I get a response of "You need administrator permission". I accept the challenge and then just get returned to the same challenge.

Why has AVG decided today (after 2+ years) that this script is a threat?
Why have I been locked out of my own file folder?

I am administrator and sole user on this system and have been since day 1.

Even after I go into AVG quarantine and "unblock" my script, I am still unable to place it back in the folder where it belongs as something is telling me "I am not administrator".

Hi,
I have checked ransomware as above, and the folder in question is not listed.
I'm not sure if that could have impacted it? (as I said though it is now working normally).

But if it is relevant to help others, here is how Ransomware is setup - some details modified for privacy/security.

I can see ransomware protection of path "x:\cloud drive\myrootfolder"
My project is stored in "x:\cloud drive\myrootfolder\projects\AffectedFolderGoesHere"

The folder "x:\cloud drive\myrootfolder\projects\AffectedFolderGoesHere" is not listed in Ransomware, So I assume unprotected, unless protection is inherited from parent folders perhaps?

Presently the folder is accessible and documents can be dropped back in, after the reboot i did, all was well.

Hello Mark.
We'd like to appreciate your efforts and patience in resolving this.
From the description you provided, we believe that the folder in question has been added to Protected folders list by Ransomware shield component in AVG Internet Security.
Could you check that and remove the folder from protected folders list? Click this link (https://bit.ly/3dcRzNj) for steps to do that.

Thank you for the information.

We appreciate your efforts.

The file path which you have mentioned "x:\cloud drive\myrootfolder" will protect all the sub folders in it.

We are glad that you have restored the file.

Let us know, if you need further help.
