Ransomware Protection

Hello Birgit,

I am sorry to know that.
You can try following the steps as mentioned in this article: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-excel/sharing-violation-when-trying-to-save-an-excel/7b25a385-b1f8-4547-8553-0fc206404353?auth=1
It seems that the issue is with the settings of Excel file.
You can disable AVG Antivirus 2017 version temporarily by following the steps as mentioned in this article: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-use-Passive-Mode to confirm whether AVG is causing this issue.

Hi, I wish I could remember what I clicked when this came up on my screen recently - or that I know how to revert this back - as my excel is no longer working now! It's some message about some sharing violation and I have no idea how to fix this. Have found at least two threads on the internet stating that it has something to do with AVG Anitvirus… and now seeing this above message I think this is exactly the message I had pop up and when the problems started… any help/pointers will be much appreciated!!

Today I am using Excel and when I went to save the file, I got a popup telling me Excel.exe is trying to change or delete the file.  It then gives me a choice to "BLOCK APP" or "ALLOW APP".

It tells me the app name is     C:]Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\Excel,exe

This is above my knowledge grade and I can use any help offered.  Thank you.

Hello Jeff,
I request you to allow Excel.exe application with AVG Ransomware protection (open AVG Internet Security > menu > Ransomware protection > allow/block > allow Excel.exe application), save the settings, reboot your computer once and check if your Excel.exe application is working fine with enabled AVG Internet Security. If the issue still persist, please share a screenshot of the AVG ransomware detection to assist you further. You can check the following link to see the instructions about taking the screenshot (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot).
Best regards,
Alok.
