I apologize for the inconvenience. The steps you have received is for the older version of AVG. In the new version, the activation steps is different.
To reactivate the AVG Internet Security with the new license number, follow the below steps.
Open AVG Internet Security > My AVG > My Subscription > click Logout/ Remove the license (If you have that option) > Select "Enter the license"> Enter the new license number which you have received recently and reactivate the program.
Your AVG Internet security license is valid until 4/28/2020.

Automatic renewal has been debited from account, now I need to update details. An email instructs me to "activate your license" by clicking on Support in top menu, then Reactivate. There is only Support & Settings which has four options:
Device settings, On line support, Help, About AVG Zen.
Where to next please?

Seems that you have AVG older version traces on your PC. Please run the AVG Clear tool mentioned in this article

You have downloaded AVG Internet Security installer twice which is why it shows two.
It seems you have already installed AVG program on your computer, please go to control panel > program and features and look for the AVG program. Please let me know the AVG programs installed on your computer to assist you further.
