Reactivating avg license number - ongoing

This is a  follow-up question to AVG Customer Support person Bhuvaneswari, who replied to my original question on 6/4/17.  I had asked how to activate my automatic renewal of my AVG protection when the previous forced update had changed my menu.  Mr. Bhuvaneswari's reply was the most straightforward so today I tried it.  Here are the steps he instructed  me to take:
Open AVG Internet Security
Click Menu at the top of the interface (3 horizontal lines)
Click About>Subscriptions> Enter the new license number to renew the program.  IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME TO CHANGE THE LICENSE.
I capitalized the last sentence above because there-in lies my question/problem.  I followed these steps exactly and got a screen with a picture of a key and the word ENTER.  I did so and got a green check mark after the license number.  Below that was 'buffer' sign - a circle going around.  To me, that  means the program is working.  HOWEVER, that action was 3 hours ago and it is still buffering.  I know the instructions stated 'it will take some time', but is this normal?  Do I do something else?
