Reactivating AVG security

For some time, we could not download any file. A pop-up would state "Your security settings will not allow youi to download this file". After two  weeks of trying to contact AVG, we finally got an email with instructions on resolving the problem. One small catch…we had to download a file!  
 
AVG has taken our money but keeps saying our "protection" runs out 2/17/2015. No one answers the phone in their business, so any suggestions are appreciated. If we can't solve the communication problem in the next two days, we intend to dump AVG. We are just fed up with having to go thru this hassel every year.
