Sarah, we request you not to provide the activation code on a public forum.
We actually requested you to provide the screenshot of scan results that asked you to pay.
We believe that you are referring to performance issues found on AVG Internet Security scan.
We would like to clarify that performance issues can be fixed only by AVG TuneUp program.
Hence, if you wish to fix those issues, do subscribe for AVG TuneUp.
Once you install and activate AVG TuneUp, you won't get "performance issues"  results on the AVG Internet Security scan.
If not, you can click on "skip now" and ignore the performance issues results.

To ensure this, share us the screenshot of the detected issues & the prompt to purchase.
To check if the subscription is active : Open AVG Internet Security - My AVG (at top right corner) - My subscriptions - Check the renewal date beside Internet Security.

I recently purchased AVG security.  When i do a scan on my PC it will not allow me to enhance the performance of my PC.  I downloaded the AVG but it did not prompt me to enter my activation code.  When i go to remove items of threats at the end of the scan it is looking for me to purchase again
