I understand the inconvenience.
The upgrade to new 2017 version was done automatically for customers in some regions.
After the auto upgrade it is necessary to remove 2016 version. Please follow uninstall steps as mentioned in this article: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-uninstall-AVG to uninstall older version.
The appearance and settings of 2017 version will be completely different from previous version.
The reports tab will no longer be available on program interface.
It can be enabled from scan settings and then the scan reports can be viewed in the path C:\Program Data\AVG\Antivirus\Reports.
avg recently updated—the icon in my start menue shows both the old and the new—if i bring it up and click the bottom one to scan i get the old screen and if i click the new one i get the new screen showi ng im protected. the icon also shows that it is an error—seems like they arnt done updating. also where are my reports of scans etc in the new version and where is my account?
Jim, the exact same thing happened to my 3 computers when they updated the version. On one the update worked without creating a problem. On the other i had to go into the control panel and uninstall the"avg protection" program for it to start working properly. On the other i had to uninstall both the "avg protection" and the "avg internet security" programs and then reinstall the "avg internet security" program to get it to work properly.
Please open the AVG Internet Security interface, Click on gear icon near Scan computer > Select the small Gear beside the scan type > Report file > Generate file to check the scan reports.
You can find the reports in C:Program DataAVGReports
NOTE: The program data folder will be usually hidden. Please follow the steps in this article https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files to show hidden files and folders.
