Remote Access Shield allows you to control which IP addresses are allowed to connect remotely to your PC, and blocks all unauthorized connection attempts.
However, it should not interfere with file sharing. In this regard, we'd suggest you to try repairing AVG program once to check if it helps.
I have a paid subscription to AVG Internet Security installed on my desktop PC. The desktop has a hard drive ( D ) that is shared to my home network and my laptop… Before I installed AVG the share worked fine and I could access D drive from the laptop. Now Remote Access Shield blacks my my laptop from connecting. The AVG Firewall is set to private network and Internet Connection Sharing Mode is checked ( turned on )., System rules are configured to allow remote connection and file sharing. If I disable Remote Access Shield the shared drive will work fine. Please advise
