I have received an email from an unknown person who claims that he now has access to my computer with the above-mentioned program RAT (and now claiming 900 USD for uninstallation of the RAT)
Is there any way to get around this RAT having AVG to find it and get rid off it ?
Shouldn't AVG protect against such threats in the first place?

Possibly, this could be a scam e-mail. This will happen if you input your e-mail address in any unknown/untrustworthy websites.
In fact, these will not affect your PC but give false information that your computer has been infected. AVG Internet Security program will block/remove the ones that are potential threats to the device. We request you not to trust the content of the scam e-mail and reset your password.
Please perform a DEEP scan using AVG and check the status.

Hi Bharath, thank you for your reply. I have tried to answer your email but has been rejected twice.
I did not notice any pop-up on my computer and the emails are the only message I have received. That said I have started all over again installing Windows and so on. I do not know if this will eliminate a potential RAT threat.
I would like to forward three screen dump of the entire email that I receivedin the first place. Two more were received some days after with a similar content. However, I cannot figure out how to attach those in this conversation. Also, the emails are no longer to find in my mail-box after reinstalling Windows - Outlook. I did not delete them!
