AVG helps us to scan for potentially unwanted programs that gets installed on our computer without our knowledge (bundled app) by :
Opening AVG - Menu - Settings - Basic protection - Detection - Set the core defense for blocking malware in real time according to your preference & choose what to do with them. (Check below potentially unwanted programs).

Thanks for your response.
Search My Way has attached itself to Google, which should be my preferred search engine and impacts any search by providing responses which maybe ads, links to unrelated content etc. 

I have set my Detection protection as you have described. However, do want to remove Search My Way - how can I do this?
