Removing AVG TuneUpSVC

Ok. I restarted the computer it didn't work. I also turned off the computer completely just to try that. Nothing. Still can't delete it. It's saying it's open in another file. And on top of that, one of the other AVG files I tried to delete said that I need an administrators permission. I'm the only administrator on this computer. How do i need permission?

Hi Andrea,

We'll certainly help with your concern.

When AVG TuneUp is uninstalled, the service might be running in the background which blocks from deleting the file in C drive.

I suggest you to reboot your PC and check if you're able to manually delete the file.

Keep us posted.

I tried to uninstall TuneUp tonight and was able to - however it said some files were not removed. When I went to do it manually, it said that I couldn't delete the files because they were open else where - TuneUpSVC.exe which I cannot find anywhere. Is there any way to get rid of the rest of the files?

I'm not sure how to check hidden files or any of that, but I'm desperate for help.

Andrea, please follow the steps as mentioned in this https://support.microsoft.com/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files article to see the hidden files on your PC.
Once it is done, get into C:\ drive and access program data–>AVG folder.
If you see AVG TuneUp or AVG PC TuneUp folders, delete them manually.
If you still get the message as tuneup service is running, then boot your PC into safe mode as mentioned in this https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=AVG-Restart-Windows-Safe-Mode article.
Once you are in safe mode, in to C:\ drive as informed earlier and delete all the folders related to AVG TuneUp and AVG PC TuneUp.
Keep us informed about the status.
