Removing kmsemulator safely

Hello Kieran
You say that AVG isolated it
But now disable your WiFi / Internet connectivity

Which version of AVG currently using, it is paid or free version?

If no interent it can be caused by many factors
Please try these steps to Restore Internet
| AVG (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?q=Internet&urlname=Restore-Internet-connectivity&l=en_US)
Thanks

Thanks. AVG isolated it OK, but that disabled WiFi/Internet, so if I remove it entirely using the above I'm concerned I may loose the ability to both connect to the internet, and restore it back.

Is there a way to safely remove it without it disabling my wifi/internet access (or causing other issues)

Thanks

It's the free version.

Thx for the link to the internet connection fixes. It isn't an issue with the router, ISP, or any other external factor as I can still connect to the internet via other devices via the Wifi, and if I "restore" the KMSemulator back, then the wifi/internet instantly works again, so it definitely seems to be linked to that somehow.

Hi,

I've just purchased a laptop 2nd hand off eBay. It came installed at a "Factory restore" level with some additional software installed.

Prior to doing anything with it I ran windows defender (which had a db about 700+ days out of date) and it found an infection which I quarantined.

I then connected to the internet, updated the database, and also downloaded and ran AVG.

AVG found another thread called kmsemulator.exe (and 2 associated registry files).

Quarantining those files however resulted in the wifi connection being disabled. If I restored the files, wifi instantly came back.

I've been in touch with the seller and he says the install of the OS, and the additional software is all genuine but hasnt been able to provide me with any license key data (he says the original OS license key is stored in the BIOS?)..... but I'm not entirely convinced and I don't like the idea of using unlicensed/cracked software (sorry, I know some folks don't mind, but it's not my bag)

Is there a way to safely remove the "infection"/crack (if it is one).... without it disabling wifi (or anything else)?

Path/Report:

C:\windows\kmsemulator.exe;"Potentially unwanted application Crack.CO"

Thanks

Hello Kieran
Basically KMSemulator is not a system file or an important part of Windows architecture
So it should not matter to connect

Please try reinstalling AVG Free
| AVG (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en_US&urlname=How-to-reinstall-AVG)

Then try to connect to the Internet
Thanks

Kieran
Most likely this is keygens, Crack for Microsoft Office
It is advisable to upload a file sample for analysis before deleting the file
Thanks
