Note: Please run the AVG Clear first and then the AVG Remover

Once uninstalled, please reinstall the AVG Internet Security by following the steps provided in this article: How to download, install, and activate AVG AntiVirus or Internet Security

In future, please follow the steps below to activate your AVG Internet Security with your new License Number:

  1. Please open AVG Internet Security or AVG AntiVirus by double-clicking the AVG icon on your desktop.
  2. Click My AVG in the top-right corner of the screen and select My Subscriptions.
  3. Then click Enter new license.
  4. Type or paste the new license code from the email sent to you by AVG, then click Enter license.

Hi - similarly it would seem to many others, I have recently renewed, and am receiving emails to enter my licence number. I have reviewed and tried all of the suggested actions on the Support pages - with no end in sight.  There are various options suggested - the original email says to go to the "Options" menu - I do not have an Options menu; a follow-up email directs me to the Support menu - and then choosing "Reactivate"- there is no choice called re-activate; the support page tells me to go to  "About" and choose the "Subscription" menu- there is no subscription menu…finally I tried to uninstall - which failed and would not complete.  This is completely crazy! A simple renewal that I've had no problems with over the past 5 years or so that I've used your service has turned into an hour-long saga - it shouldn't be this hard.  Please tell me what to do- without directing me to any of the previously mentioned instructions above.  Thank you.

Thank you - this worked, but from a customer experience point of view, that was absolutely terrible.  A renewal should be a seamless, straightforward process, and not involve multiple layers of uninstalls and reinstalls- not to mention the conflicting and unhelpful information provided, all in all taking a couple of hours to sort out.  I can see from other questions other people are having similar issues, so if they can't fix the root cause of the problem, perhaps it's time to at least get the communication right - ie include a link to that page with the reminder, and update the page so that the steps are in the correct order…
