We had a short power outage this morning that shut down my desktop Computer.
Sucessfully updated 4:25:49 pm 12/17/2015 while I was trying to get my emails.
The Reports list shows, again, only today's update and the scheduled scan of 12/14/2015, NOT yesterday's update.
I clicked on the conversation link in your email to me today 12/17 and the page came up, but did not allow me to answer - and it had no block to click for a login. So I went to the AVG login page and tried my password I used to post the first message and then reply to you.
On the left: Red triangle with an exclamation point in it. And the message:
Sorry, you've entered an invalid login or password. Please note that passwords are case-sensitive.
I reset my password to something different again today after 4-5 tries on the capchas and got a congratulatory email that it was successful.
Now I get the same: Sorry, you've entered… I cannot get logged in with either of the two passwords.
I went back to your email today, clicked on the link for the conversation, got the login capability, and finally successfully logged in with my new password. Is this going to happen each time I try to reply?
To your new answer: I would like to know how big the file will be, as the last time I did this the file size was 83MB. I have dialup with an accelerator and that would never get beyond 33-35% in my 4 hour allowance of time, and then I would have to start over again. It never held onto whatever it had previously sent to my computer. So I had to take my PC, Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse all to my local library where there was wi-fi in order to get it downloaded.
My next comment: This is a record of the versions showing on my incoming emails:
Dec 11: Version: 2016.0.7227 / Virus Database: 4483/11163 - Release Date: 12/12/15
Dec 14: Version: 2016.0.7227 / Virus Database: 4483/11178 - Release Date: 12/14/15
Dec. 15: Version: 2016.0.7227 / Virus Database: 4483/11184 - Release Date: 12/15/15
Morning of Dec 16: Version: 2016.0.7227 / Virus Database: 4483/11187 - Release Date: 12/15/15
After I submitted my question about the reports and frequency of updates on 12/16/2015: Version: 2016.0.7227 / Virus Database: 4489/11193 - Release Date: 12/16/15
Today Dec 17: email from you shows: Version: 2016.0.7227 / Virus Database: 4489/11200 - Release Date: 12/17/15
Are these gradual revisions to achieve AVG Fee 2016, as opposed to having to try to get a whole new 2016 version downloaded? I have a 64 bit system.
I really appreciate your patience with this 77 year old lady. And I appreciate your help and ask that you forgive my typo errors. Again, thank you.
Hello Tosca,
I understand how something like this can really try your patience.
Could you please let us know the name of the AVG product you have installed in your pc? Are you receiving update pop up to update your AVG or virus definition? Could you please provide us the screenshot http://avgread.me/1aZxsAV of the popup to assist you better. Please be informed that Fix performance is nothing but part of AVG PC TuneUp. I guess you are using AVG PC TuneUp trial version and it will optimize your pc for better speed.
Please feel free to contact us for any further assistance. Thank you.
Yesterday it updated successfully, and it is no longer on my Report list, but today it again updated successfully and it is on my Reports list. And the sceduled scan is on the Report list.
When I go to Archive Report, it is now only showing the scan of the 14th, not the successful update
that occurred at 5:09 p.m., a little more than one hour ago, or yesterday's successful update.
I quite often use your Fix performance program - is it changing the registry to eliminate my AVG updates? What is going on, and can you help?.
AVG Free is my product. I get no notice that an update is being downloaded. I only realize that something is coming into my computer and I then check and see that AVG is downloading more updates. No popup appears. I am not aware of avgreadme…
When I ask AVG to 'Fix Performance' I get a popup that asks me if I want to allow AVG to change my registry and I always say yes. I am not aware that it is a trial version of 'Fix Performance." Is it?
I have always had that option on my AVG homepage of the program. And it gets rid of junk files regularly, fixes the registry, fragmented files if any, and broken shortcuts, if any. Usually it only has to get rid of junk files.
Than you so much for your quick response. Please tell me more so that I can continue to lern more about AVG Free.
Tosca
