Hi Jeff,
We're glad to clarify this for you.
From your description, we see that you're curious about the AVG Rescue Disk feature which has been added to AVG Internet Security in the recent 21.10 version.
Unfortunately, we don't have a website describing the feature yet. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.
However, we'll explain it to you through this channel.
If you suspect your PC is infected with malware and all other Antivirus scans (including the Boot-time scan) were unable to resolve the issue, you can use Rescue Disk. Rescue Disk enables you to scan your PC when your system isn't running. This method significantly increases your chances of detecting and removing malware because the malware is unable to counteract.
After creating a Rescue Disk, you can boot up the PC that contains malware using the external USB or CD/DVD drive and scan the PC (if you suspect that your computer is infected).
The feature is available in AVG Internet Security -> Menu -> Tools -> Rescue Disk.
If you run into any trouble or have any questions, feel free to write back to us.
AVG just updated my protection and informed me that I can now create a Rescue CD or thumbdrive.
Nowhere within my installed product do I see how to do that.
And if I missed it, it's too hard to find. How is that possible?
So I signed into my account online, clicked "support" and had to sign in again.
Still couldn't find out how to create a Rescue CD.
Is it me, or is AVG's support / user interface an "F"?
Can someone please tell me how to create a Rescue CD?
And yes, I'm bracing myself for a spate of hatemail for my commentary … but it's OK - I'll live with it.
Thank you!
I too can't create a Rescue UBB drive or ISO file. It goes up to 29% and says it can't create it
