Thanks but when I try to remove it it asks for the password, which the programme has forgotten in a blu screen crash.  I tried to download an .exe file from your site but this does not download in any way that is useful…i cannot therefore do the above…as i said before!

My avg free will not update uninstall or search for updates on win vista and sw version 18.6.3066
tried clicking suggested link that failed to download…hekp

Steve, to remove AVG Antivirus free, run AVG clear tool as mentioned here.

It seems that you have an entered a "Password Protection" for entering into AVG settings.

Please enter the password to access the settings.

This password is different from your AVG MyAccount password.

If you do not remember the password, please remove and reinstall AVG Internet Security on your computer to fix the issue.

This is what I get when trying an update…I tried a suggested download exe link to remove password which would not successfully download or execute.  thanks Vishnu

When you try to save the screenshot, below File name field you will have a drop down to change the type of file.

Steve, please run AVG Clear tool to remove 2018 version of AVG.
