Restart after update

I updated my AVG Free and it keeps asking me to restart. Every time I restart it comes up and ask me to restart my computer. I have done this numerous time, I even shut down and it still comes up that I need to restart. I have looked at the threads on support and it is a big loop with no help, the things they are saying to do are think are for paid versions. Why would I buy the full version if the free one does not work?
