I have been using AVG for many years. Tonight I ran the quick clean and it said I was just cleaning the cache. However, after completion, all of my photos, videos and music were gone from my phone. These are photos of my deceased family members amungst lots of other extremely sentimental photos. Everything I am reading says these can’t be recovered. This is mind blowing to me that so many people are losing insanely important memories and AVG has no solution to this. Please someone tell me there is a way to get all of this stuff back. I will be removing the app from my phone and never using this again if this can’t be solved. This is terrible practices for such a highly “reputable” company.
I’m truly sorry you’re going through this—it’s devastating to lose irreplaceable memories like photos and videos, especially of loved ones who have passed. While AVG’s Quick Clean is typically meant to remove cache and junk files, there have been rare reports of important data being mistakenly deleted, possibly due to misidentified storage directories or aggressive cleaning settings.
Try diskdigger to restore your pictures. Its free and it restored my files. Give it a try. DISKDIGGER
I would only hope that all of your photos have been backed up to Google Drive or DropBox or the like … without you even knowing it.
IF you have a Gmail email address, you certainly have access to Free Cloud Storage which is enough for most people without having to purchase additional drive space.
Some phones automatically set up to back-up to Drive or any selected Cloud Storage like DropBox.
IF you have DropBox, you should login and see if your photos are there BUT I would check Google Drive (or just Drive) FIRST .. if you do have a gmail address.
I’ll keep my fingers X’d that you do and everything backed up there, unbeknown to you.
