Balasubramanian, I also have the same problem as Peter Day. However, it seems to be limited to using it through the right click context menu of a file, as, when I open the AVG UI >menu > file shredder >select file or folder and then select the file in question it does work. I am using AVG Ultimate (paid). Same AVG version and build as Peter. and it goes through the same motions. This PC is Win 10 Pro Version 1709 OS build 16299.1087. However, on my laptop, Win 10 Pro Version 1903 build 18362.295 (same AVG Ultimate version and build) it goes straight back to the AVG UI when I select Shred using AVG in the right click context menu for a file.
The first time I uploaded the screen shot, I did not see it posted. I don't know if the post worked or not. I will try one more time.
After updating to AVG Antivirus Free Software version: 19.8.3108 (build 19.8.4793.439), "Shred using AVG" via right-click on a file no longer works. It says something went wrong and it cannot shred the file. Yet File Shredder from the AVG menu works. Repair AVG Antivirus Free does not fix the problem. How do I get this fixed?
Details:

When using "Shred using AVG" via right-click on a file, I get
"Permanently shred this file?
Once shredded, there's no getting it back!" and click "SHRED IT" and receive the message "Shredding this file. You won't be seeing this file again" followed by "Sorry, something went wrong
We were unable to shred your file."
I ran a repair of AVG Antivirus Free, but that did not fix it. I have verified that right-click shred fails no matter what the file, and that the file is not locked or in use, etc. Open AVG > Menu > Shredder works.
Right click shred worked before the update, and failed after the update. This looks like a bug to me.
