Ron,
Sorry for the inconvenience caused, let us know the name of AVG program you have installed, is that free or paid version? How did you identified that s.yimg.com virus is present on your device?
When will AVG be removing this virus? The manual method is really, really complex and I'm wondering if I need to switch to Spyhunter - as it does remove it.
I have the free version of AVG 17.9.3040 virus 1801105-0 and I found out that I have it because I can tell I have a virus so I went looking. Turns out NoScript caught a site-to-site communication from my yahoo mail account to s.yimg.com. I was suspicious of that when the url had many levels and one of them was Darla.
It seems to be causing many problems but the worst is the mouse is eratic. It moves just a bit when you try to click something often causing the wrong button to get clicked plus the mouse freezes for a second or two regularly. The first thing I did was try a new mouse. I eventually tried 2 wired and 3 wireless mice - each time going to device manager and removing the driver (although it could be picking the same one that seemed unlikely due to the variety of mice).
Anyway I booted in safe mode, did a regedit and deleted all the references I could find to 'yimg' and then did a full computer search for 'yimg' and deleted those references. One was in Internet Explorer and the other was in FireFox (my main browser). It was an xml file.
I also cleared my cookies and uninstalled all the recently installed programs. Plus I ran Wise Cleaner, Registry Cleaner, CCleaner, Malwarebytes and a deep scan with AVG, which found 4 things and moved them to quarantine. I rebooted and I still have the same problem
