To Komal ;
I assume you meant to say Tap on F2, which i did to enter my windows 7 Bios Set up. Under Configuration my settings were indeed set to " AHCI " . Their is NO option for " ATA "
The only options i have are IDE, AHCI, Raid. I did set it to IDE just for the heck of it and attempted a boot and it was a NO GO. Then restart and reset it to " AHCI ". Still a NO GO for boot up into windows normally. It will NOT do a repair computer successfully and continues to get stuck at the " AVGIDSHA.SYS " string when attempting any of the safe mode start ups.
I did create an AVG Rescue CD burning the 162mb ISO file using Nero Express on my laptop burner. I have NOT used it yet to boot up and go into File Manager and start renaming AVG driver files yet.
Will wait to see if i get anymore suggestions from this site that might work.
Regards & Thanks, Ron
I realize this appears to be a problem of the past i thought, but i have just encountered this windows 7 start-up fiasco and from what i have researched the AVG rescue CD has not solved the problem for many of the past consumers with this same problem. Can anyone actually verify or state that AVG has actually found a solution to this problem so i wont be creating more problems by renaming AVG driver files ?
Regards & Thanks for any replies
Hello Ron, sorry for the inconvenience caused. I would request you to go ahead using AVG Rescue CD and it is the best way to resolve this. If you need any assistance in using AVG Rescue CD please have a look at this guide http://free.avg.com/us-en/226162 . Please feel free to contact us should you need any further assistance. Thank you.
The PC continues to hang at the Windows 7 Logo screen when attempting to start windows 7 normally. When i attempt to start windows in any of the SAFE Modes it hangs at the AVGIDSHA.SYS. I have tried ALL attempts to start it up from the screen after tapping F8 and nothing works. I inserted my original purchased Windows 7 disk and attempted the repair sequence and it just does and says the same thing as it does from the F8 repair computer which dont fix anything. I did run CHKDSK C: /f /r from the command prompt screen when i had the OEM windows 7 disk in and it ran a fairly quick scan and reported NO problems and was NOT dirty.
Unfortunately i do NOT have an image back up of the system OS with all the files and installed applications on an external drive, CD`s or large thumbdrive. I really hope i can avoid having to do a clean reinstall and lose all my files, data, & applications. But like i mentioned earlier when researching this problem alot of effected AVG consumers did NOT report much success with the AVG rescue CD simply renaming the AVG driver files. As there systems reportedly just started hanging in SAFE MODE at a different class string.
Sorry if i appear to sound negative but i personally built this rig a few years back and it is the equivalent to a 2.5 K retail Intel i7 PC and i hope your knowledge of this scenario can resolve my startup problem at least to get to a point where i can uninstall the AVG software & all its drivers and registry keys.
Thanks for any reply & Help ,
Regards, Ron

Hello Ron, I am really very sorry about that. I understand that you've a Windows & start up failure. May I know if your system doesn't boot at all or it boots up and you get a blue screen? Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. I did indeed go ahead and boot up with the AVG Rescue CD, ran a full scan and found NO problems. Went ahead and renamed all the AVG driver files to .old as described and it was still a NO GO booting normally into windows as it just hangs at the Logo animated screen. Also attempts to load into all SAFE MODES causes the safe mode to hang at the classpnp.sys driver string that so many other folks have encountered in the past.
I went ahead and inserted my windows 7 install disc and did a clean reinstall of windows, loaded all the pertinent drivers for the Intel Motherboard and Nvidia video card and everything works fine now. I already had ALL my photos backed up on an external hd but unfortunately lost all the applications i had installed over the past several years.
Personally i dont think this is an AVG based problem but a glitch in Windows 7 that is created by a number of various variables that causes the safe mode hangups.
Anyways Thanks for the attempted help,
Regards, Ron
