Same warning pops up over and over

Hello Alan,

We're sorry to hear this.
It might be a false detection. Provide the screenshot of AVG threat detection window by clicking on "see details" on it.
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
Problem has continued every day but it took me a while to figure out how to capture a screen shot.  Hopefully you will find 2 screen shots attached from the most recent incident.  Same thing every day several weeks now.  Now I can't attach the files because it apparently is not a supported fiel type.  I copied the screen shots to a Word document and saved them.  Will have to try to figure out how to alter the file types.

I appreciate your help in leading me through the above process.  At least for me, it took a good hour to complete the process as the 1st file appeared to completely download but still showed 1 second left and that second never passed.  Eventually my computer froze and I had to restart and begin again.

I realize that nothing is "free' and it's likely that the terms I agreed to covered everything, but attempting to add "AVG Safe Price" to my computer is something that should have a separate disclosure.  Fortunately Chrome alerted me to this attempt and I was able to stop it.  Also coming online today Chrome alerted me that they were no longer my default browser.  Not sure if the AVG download was the cause of this or not.  There should be clear and esaily visible disclosure of any major changes that the AVG download will make.

I haven't been online for very long today but usually by this point the issue of repetitive virus warnings would have occurred so I am thankful that you got that issue solved for me.

I am using AVG version 2016.0.7294.  Yesterday I hit the Update Now button which did seem to indicate that everything wsa updated through yesterday's date.  AVG still says Computer Update required when I select Fix Now it says the update failed.  I again hit the Update Now and that also leads to an update failed message.  I am going to read your article and attempt to get the Word file into a format that can be attached here.  I was online for about 5 minutes, email 1st and then responding to a couple of messages on LinkedIn and the same virus messages started.  I selected for AVG to remove them and as soon as it said it was done and I could close the window I did so and almost immediately AVG opened another window saying that the same viruses needed to be removed.  This sequence was repeated 4-6 times in immediate succession and now it has stopped for 5-10 minutes.
For several weeks I get a popup saying that AVG identified threats (free version).  I select for AVG to remove them and close the window when AVG says it's done.  Almost immediately the same popup comes back, often 5 or 6 times in a row.  Every day this happens multiple times.

I have tried stopping notifications.  Then I enabled notifications but unchecked all the boxes.  It is the same viruses that AVG keeps identifying over and over.

When I try to select don't remove them just let AVG stop me from accessing them the pop up continues to come up until I click remove them.

Hello Alan,

We really appreciate your efforts so far. Let's fix this together.

It appears that you are having the older version of AVG for which latest updates are not available. Hence, you are facing this kind of issues.

We request you to remove the older traces using AVG Clear and Removal tools. To do so, refer this article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product) for the instructions.

After restart, go to Run window (press windows key and R key simultaneously) and type the following comments to delete the folders manually.

1. Type “Temp” and press enter, remove all the files.
2. “%temp%” and remove all the files.
3. %appdata% - Remove all the AVG folders.
4. %programdata% - Open the AVG folder and remove the old files.
5. Type C: and press enter, delete AVG remover folder.

Please go to c: drive-> program files and delete the AVG files.

Once the traces are removed, proceed with the fresh installation of AVG program. Refer this link (https://www.avg.com/en-us/installation-files) to download the product.

Get back to us if you need any help.

Is this pop-up occurs randomly or when you browse?
Let us know the version of AVG program installed on your PC? To find: Open AVG Internet Security/AVG AntiVirus > Menu > About.
Keep us informed here.

Alan,

We appreciate your efforts in resolving the issue. Sorry for the inconvenience. It seems you are referring to AVG Secure Browser which will install along with AVG Internet Security. You have to uncheck the box during installation procesdure. Else, it will get installed and change your default browser.

Refer the below article to uninstall AVG Secure Browser:
