Scammers? Foreign Devils? Hackers?

Dear Sirs, I think my Antivirus account is in credit but suddenly my AVG has been taken over by a strange and unresponsive set of screens and silly pictures purporting to be my AVG antivirus site.
I am informed that it will correct itself upon 'Restart' - which it does not!
I am told to add items or activities to improve systems that I never realised I had, with no mention of hidden costs. This I will not do until I am convinced this is a) free and b) not a scam.
This present site also seems unable to comprehend the English Language.
I use Windows XP and cannot accept that all this incomprehensible flummery and 'smoke and mirrors' is the hallmark of a reputable company. It is NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. I will soon need an ANTI-ANTI virus if AVG keeps up this charade!   Yours etc., Confused, West Midlands.
