Have you initiated the disk scan via AVG Tuneup Unlimited? If so, please refer the following article: https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlname=Disk-scan-stops-at-27-after-using-AVG-PC-TuneUp to fix the issue.
I am carrying out a scan and repair through AVG and it been stuck on 10% complete for some time. I have just installed Windows on a new hard drive. Can the process be interrupted? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your reply. I looked at the forum from another machine and found the article you sent the link to just before the machine I was checking finished. Total time for scan and repair was 2hrs 15mins for the 1TB hard drive installad.
