Scan Exceptions not working

Hi Avinash,  I responded to your email but you obviously didn't get it so I'm trying again.
I did the repair and it all worked as you said.  But avg still ignores exception pathnames and continues to scan the whole drive.

Hallo Akash, Once again - I have responded to the email that you sent but no response arrives - so I'm trying to reach you here again.

What you asked me to do, i.e set the exceptions via the Deep Scan dialogue is precisely what does not work.  I have set several exceptions via the "gear icon" on the Deep Scan dialogue. When I get out of there and then go back in they are all there.  But when I run the scan and it displays the current file being scanned towards the bottom of the window I can see pathnames that are on the exception list still being scanned.   I can email screen shots to make this clearer if it would help - but you would have to promise to read your email…

Thank you for the detailed information.
This shouldn't happen if the file was added to exception.
In this case, it is recommended to reinstall AVG Internet Security program and check by adding the exception again.
To uninstall AVG Internet Security please follow the steps as mentioned in this article: http://avgread.me/1DEtNP0 .
To download, install and activate AVG Internet Security 2017 version please follow the steps as mentioned in this article: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Internet-Security-or-Premium-Security .

I received this reply via email…

We apologize for the delay in responding to you.
We have escalated the case to our developers team and they have informed us that if a folder or file is added to exception, AVG will be scanning those files too. If there is any detection in those files, then it will ignore the threats…

…Your developers are quite correct.  This is the way it works - as I think I described in my original report.   But I believe an "exception" should mean that the selected pathnames are excepted from the scan - not simply scanned and then ignored - and your initial responses agreed with me.  Please ask your developers how I can configure pathnames that I want to be excepted from the scan.
Thank You.

Hello Jennifer,
I apologize for the inconvenience caused. Please try to repair AVG and check if that resolves the issue. To repair your AVG please follow these instructions:

Go to Start -> Control Panel.
Note: Click Settings first if Control Panel is not available in the Start menu.
Open (Programs) -> Programs and Features, or Add or Remove Programs.
Select AVG Internet Security in the list of programs.
Click the Change or Change/Remove button.
Select Repair.
Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation.
Restart your computer.

My paid version of AVG updated itself in the last couple of days.  I am trying to configure a list of pathnames to be excluded from all scans.  I have apparently added my list of pathnames successfully and the software says is has all my pathnames but when I run a scan (Deep Scan) it ignores my exceptions list and does the whole hard drive anyway.  Any ideas?

Hello Jennifer,
You can post the screenshots ( http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot ) on this thread itself. Please click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions on how to upload the screenshot. Please let me know if you would like to continue this through email and we would be glad to help you that way.

Jennie,
Please reply to that email from our senior technical team if you have any further queries to get quick assistance.

Hi Avinash,  I responded to your email but you obviously didn't get it so I'm trying again.

Thank you so much for the detailed information.
It is necessary for us to analyze the AVG log files to check and confirm the root cause of the issue.
I have sent an email instruction on how to collect and send us the log files.
If the email is not found in inbox do check in spam and junk folders.

I did the uninstall, did the re-install, restarted my pc, re-added exceptions, same result. I won't bother sending screen shots as they're the same as last time.  Also, I tried this on another machine that we're license for and the behaviour is the same so I'm getting the impression I'm doing QA on this product for you and that my environment is not the issue.  Can you confirm that this feature works on your machine otherwise I'm about to give up?

Hi Jennifer,
I can understand how upset you must be.
Please add the file paths under the Exceptions of Deep Scan and then check the issue.

To add the file path under Deep Scan Exceptions, please follow the steps below :
1. Open the AVG Internet Security
2. Click on the Gear Icon beside Scan Computer
3. Click on the Gear Icon on Top Right Corner of the Deep Scan Tile
4. Now select Exceptions and enter the file path and click on Add

Your issue should be resolved now.

Thank you for the detailed information.
