For years, I have been able to scan from my Brother Printer using there Utilities to my HP computer…  About two months ago for some reason, I can scan but I am unable to save the scanned document to my computer or print.  I have tried this from the printer direct and thru the computer program.  If I turn off the AVG virus, I can scan, save and print but this is a real  pain and a waster of time.  I have no idea why this happened and have tried to figure out a fix without any luck.  How can I fix this problem as I really don't want to have to discontinue my AVG virus protection, but can't continue having to work around it.

Thank you for your quick reply.  I only have the Basic Protection so do not have the Hacker attack file protection access and have never had it so can’t change as you requested.  Can you suggest something else.
