Scan stuck on volmgrx.sys and high CPU usage by watchdog service

Exact same problem here, for the past 2 days, the computer is running a scan and seems to be stuck on the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\volmgrx.sys. The AVG watchdog service is stealing most of my CPU time. Unable to pause or stop the scan, and rebooting the computer does not help. In my case, i've had the paid version of AVG for a few years. I will try to uninstall as per the instructions above, but i must say with each iteration of the new AVG product, performance has been getting worst.

Hello,
My AVG scan has been stuck on C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\volmgrx.sys for a couple of days now. I cannot pause or stop the scan. At the moment 3 scans (rootkit, planned and system scans) are running at the same time and they are all stuck on this file. Also I found out that AVG watchdog service is using about 50% of my CPU. I updated AVG to a paid version a couple of days ago and I had a Windows update. I think one of these two may have caused this problem. How do I fix this?
