Hello Wally,
We regret for the inconvenience. AVG will detect only the threats which is harm to your computer. You can just delete the threats. To save the log files, you can create a folder and save the log files in that. After that you can copy the folder to your hard drive or USB drive.
Thank you.
Hi,
I've ran a scan with AVG rescue CD and found 3 viruses.
What do I do now?
How do I know if any (or all) of the files are system files?
What should I do if they are?
How do I save a log to my hard drive?
… or to a USB device?
I've not found any instructions, other than the following:.
| AVG
That was not very helpful.
Did I miss something?
Thanks!
Hi Karthikeyan,
THANK YOU for the quick response!
My other question is: How do I save my scan report to a file?
Please keep in mind that I am running the rescue CD from a CD,
so it is not writable.
THANKS!
Hello Wally,
You are most welcome.
We would like to inform you that the scan will run on the selected files. No action will be automatically performed. After the test, the result menu will be displayed. From there you can display the report and also select the action for detected files:
1. Selecting Rename All or Delete all will rename all the detected files (adding a suffix to their names) or remove them from computer. Note that if you remove important system files, the computer might not be able to work properly.
2. Selecting Individual will allow you to decide the action for each file.
3. The Select option will then allow you to perform action on selected groups of files.
Thank you.
Hello Wally,
We understand your concern. The system files that were detected by AVG will be located under C:\ Windows\System32. If you see any such files, please do not delete it. Apart from this location, we can delete any other files that are detected in your computer.
Thank you
Hi Bhuvaneswari,
THANK YOU for your quick response!
"AVG will detect only the threats which is harm to your computer. You can just delete the threats."
How can I be sure that the files being deleted are not "important system files"?
I've read this page:
| AVG
It says this:
Selecting Rename All or Delete all will rename all the detected files (adding a suffix to their names) or remove them from computer. Note that if you remove important system files, the computer might not be able to work properly.
How do I know that I am not deleting "important system files"?
I'm not sure what to do with the log files.
"To save the log files, you can create a folder and save the log files in that.
After that you can copy the folder to your hard drive or USB drive."
Where would the log files be saved before I would copy the folder to my hard drive or USB drive?
Please make note that I am running the rescue CD from an actual CD, and not from
a USB stick. The CD is not writable, so I could not create a folder there.
If I am booted with Linux, then could I access a USB device that is plugged in to the computer?
If so, then what would be the commands (and procedures) for doing that?.
THANKS!
