I have the same problem. I clicked on 'Advanced Settings' and unchecked the Game Mode. I restarted my laptop, and the scan is still stuck at 1%. It is trying to scan the whole computer as well as complete a scheduled scan.

Find the below steps for the basic troubleshooting to fix the AVG scan struck at 1% percentage.
1.Open AVG.
2. click on Advanced settings.
3. Select Appearance on the left pane and uncheck the Game mode which is listed on the right pane.
4. Reboot the computer and reinitiate the AVG scan and check
