Scheduled Scan and Update At Same Time?

Simon,
Thank you for reaching us with your concerns. We are updating our AVG security program regularly with high new security patches and updates to enhance the computer security. In general, first the update will take place and gets completed to finish the scheduled scan with latest virus definitions so that it will became easier to scan the threat with latest update. Thank you!

Out of curiosity, if AVG is running a scheduled full system scan and an update becomes available during the scan, can AVG update itself at the same time or would AVG only update itself after the scheduled scan was completed?

Many thanks

Balasubramanian:

You did not read my inquiry correctly.

1. If a SCHEDULED (not a manual) full system scan is 'ALREADY RUNNING' and an update becomes available, will AVG update itself 'AFTER' the scheduled scan is complete or does AVG have the capacity to run the scan 'and' update AT THE SAME TIME?

2. If AVG is 'updating itself' automatically DURING THE NIGHT and a SCHEDULED scan is set to start 'DURING' the update, will the scheduled scan start 'AFTER' the update is complete or does AVG have the capacity to run the scan and update at the SAME TIME?

Kishore:

To be clear then, AVG has been configured so that a scan and an update can run at the same time without affecting the performance of either task?

Avinash-To confirm:

AVG 'is'' configured to run a scan and update itself at the same time.

-If an update has already started, a scan will also be run if it is scheduled for the same time.
-If a scheduled scan is already running, AVG can update itself at the same time if an update becomes available.

Is all of thet correct?

Well, not exactly, Simon.
It is always recommended to scan your PC using AVG after its update.

Ranjani-Please answer both questions more clearly.

1. If a scheduled full system scan is 'already running' and an update 'becomes' available, will AVG update itself 'after' the scheduled scan is complete or does AVG have the capacity to run the scan 'and' update at the same time?

2. If AVG is 'updating itself' during the night and a scheduled scan is set to start 'during' the update, will the scheduled scan start 'after' the update is complete or does AVG have the capacity to run the scan and update at the same time?
