Scheduled Scans

Hello Tom,
I'm sorry to hear that, you're experiencing issue with AVG scheduled scans. If your computer is switched/power off at the time of scheduled scans, then AVG scheduled scans task will remain but when you start your computer (next time) the scheduled scans will start automatically. (1/2)

Tom,
We appreciate your patience. Please confirm whether AVG Scheduled scan starts perfectly and when PC goes to Sleep mode, the scheduled scan that started gets aborted, is that right?

My scheduled scan preferences are:
1. Do not start the scan if running on batteries, i.e., no power.
2. Pause the scan if the batteries mode begins.  I assume this means if power is interrupted or power savings go into effect.
3. Do NOT shut down the computer after the scan finishes.

Yesterday I made sure the computer was running when the scan was scheduled to start.  The scan started.  Unless it finished within 30 minutes or less the scan was not completed when the power saving feature of the computer began.  I have no way of being sure since there is no record.  The interface said the last scan was 3 days ago.  Also, the scan didn't resume when the computer ws powered up, i.e., I hit a key.

Today the computer was in power saving mode when the scan was schedule to start.  15 minutes after the scheduled start time the computer was powered up but the scan still has not started.  The interface now says it has been 4 days since the last scan.

So apparently setting preference makes no difference since the preferences I listed above have been in effect since I first set up my scheduled scans.

I can't believe that AVG has designed its product to operate this way.  Pre Window 10 versions never gave me these problems.

I purchased a Dell Inspiron computer with Window 10 in November 2016.  I recently installed AVG Free and setup daily scheduled scans.  Apparently the scans will not start if the computer is powered down (sleep mode) and doesn't start when the computer is next powered up.  Also if the computer is in use at the scheduled time for a scan the scan will start but will stop if the computer powers down during the scan and never completes.  I never had these problems with my old XP or Vista systems.

Any suggestions?

That is correct.  Also, if a scan is missed it will not start the next time the computer is powered up.

Tom,
Thank you for confirming it. We have sent you an email requesting the diagnostic information to analyze your issue and provide you with a resolution. Please check your inbox and spam box as well and send the requested data to assist you further.
Thank you.

However, I request you go to open the AVG user interface on your desktop, click the gear icon next to Scan Computer, select Schedule Scan, select Scheduling from the left panel, manage your preferences for the following options:
-Do not start the scan if running on batteries: tick to ignore schedule settings if your PC is not connected to a power source.
-Pause the scan if batteries mode begins: tick to pause the scan if your PC is removed from its power source during the scan.
-Shut down the system after the scan finishes: tick to automatically turn off your PC after the scan.
Please check your AVG scheduled scan preference. Feel free to contact us again if you need any further assistance.
Best regards,
Alok. (2/2)
