Thanks for the good link that was finally sent. So, for those interested…
The fix was two part…
- Make sure your network is set to "Private"
With AVG Internet Security open, select:
Hacker Attacks
Firewall Options
Network Profiles
Select your network and select "'Private" from the dropdown list
- Turn on "Internet Connection Sharing Mode".
With AVG Internet Security open, select:
Privacy
Settings (the gear in the upper right)
Full Protection
Select the checkbox for"Internet Connection Sharing Mode"
i used to be able to fix this by changing my network to private affter AVG updates but thats not working this time. i know its still a problem with AVG because if i turn off protection i can connect without issue to my TV.
It is the firewall that is blocking it

Scott, I have provided another link through email.
Please try that and check whether you are able to get connected.
Thanks, this works now!
Reinis, please enable "Internet connection sharing mode" option in AVG Firewall and check with the connection.
Keep us posted.
Reinis, disabling Firewall isn't the solution provided.
It was done to check and confirm whether it is the reason behind the issue.
We request you to change the network profile in AVG Internet Security and check the status.
Refer this article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Use-AVG-Enhanced-Firewall) and follow the steps as mentioned under 'Define Network profiles'.
Change the profile to private if it was set as public. Later, check the status with connection to your TV.
Keep us apprised.
You are welcome, Reinis.
Feel free to contact us, if you have any queries for AVG.
