Secure DNS exceptions on AVG Internet Security for macOS

Hello Armin,

We are glad to clarify your request. We do not have option to disable Fake website shield only for specific host name. To ensure your full security, Fake Website Shield is enabled by default. We recommended you keep Fake Website Shield enabled at all times, unless you need to temporarily disable it for troubleshooting purposes.

To disable Fake Website Shield:

  • Click the Payments tile on the main AVG Internet Security screen.
  • Click the green (ON) slider above Fake Website Shield.
  • Enter the password that you use to start your Mac, then click OK.
  • The slider changes to red (OFF) and Fake Website Shield is disabled.
Please try the above steps and confirm whether AVG program causing the issue with local host. Keep us updated. Thank you.

OK, thanks for the reply. I found the setting.

I would suggest that you really consider the possibility to add exceptions manually: I am running AVG on an intranet where I can access certain essential services internally only by local IP addresses; these services have to be accessible from the outside (for external customers) as well as from the intranet (for the developers). So manually dis- and enabling the Fake Wesite Shield whenever you change from Intra- to Extranet and vice versa ist extremely cumbersome.

Is there a way to disable the secure DNS feature of AVG Internet Security for macOS  (preferrably for specific host names only)?
As soon as the Non-Free Version is activated, the "AVG Security" DNS-Proxy Service activates and prevents to resolve my local host names correctly from the internal name-server.
All information to deactivate Secure DNS (aka. Fake Website Shield) obviously does not apply to the macOS version; there are no "Fake Website Shield" Settings available anywhere.

Best regards,
armin

Thanks for the reply. Obviously you did not read my question carefully. Otherwise you would have noticed, that I am running the macOS version where I can not see how to disable the Fake Website Shield anywhere (or maybe I am just too stupid to find it).

Can you please tell me exactly how to disable it? And consider: I am running the macOS version.
