Sending MS Office "Outlook" emails using AVG

I have Windows 10, Microsoft Office 2013.  No problems receiving email, but sometimes emails stay and wont send through the outbox. Sometimes, if I shut off VPN the immediately send.  Sometimes not.
Any ideas?
