From your description, it seems that you've tried to turn on the component from the homepage of AVG (through the notification).
If so, please follow these steps : Open AVG Internet Security - Menu - Settings - Full protection - Sensitive data shield - Click on the toggle bar & select stop for 10 minutes.
Later, repeat the same step & click on the toggle bar to check if it helps.
I have just installed AVG internet security and I'm getting a message to turn on my sensitive data shield but it will not turn on, any help would be appreciated.
