Thanks, Karthikeyan.
The reason I started asking the question about file shield exceptions was because of the warning of multiple antivirus software conflict. When I had a serious malware problem a couple years ago, a colleague of yours at AVG support helped me resolve the issue. But he used Malwarebyte for something and then advised me to keep it installed as well.
So before reactivating AVG Internet Security, I would like to know if I still need Malwarebytes installed as well for malware detection and removal, and if so whether I can make the two products work in parallel.

Hello Honami,
We will help you with it. Do you have AVG Internet Security icon on your desktop screen? If so, click on that icon to open it and Menu option will be available at the top right corner of that interface.
How do I access Internet Security menu? I need to add a few files to the exclusion list.
Thank you for the information.
It seems that you have older version of AVG Internet Security installed on your computer.
The latest version is 19.1.
Please uninstall AVG Internet Security from your control panel and click on this link https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-Protection to install the latest version.
Follow the steps from this link https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Activate-AVG-Internet-Security to activate AVG Internet Security.
Once you install the latest version, click on "Menu->Settings->Components->File Shield" to add the exception.
If you face any difficulties, please let us know and we will assist you further.
Thank you for reaching us with your concerns, Honami.
AVG Internet Security will check for Malware too. We recommend you to have any one security program to avoid conflicts.
Make sure that two programs are working fine without any issues, if so, you can continue using it. Else, you need to uninstall one program.
Thanks, Karthikeyan.

Thanks, Ranjani.
My AVG Dashboard only shows More from AVG, Reports, Support and Options on the top right corner. I understand that I need to go through Menu > Settings > Components to customise the file shield.

Hi Karthikeyan,
Thank you very much for your help. I think I have managed to install the latest version, but it seems just a trial version with an expiry date of Feb 24. Have I missed something to continue my current licence to the end of August?
All the best,
Honami
I'm glad to hear that you installed the latest version.
We need to activate the product you have installed.
Open AVG Internet Security installed on your computer, click on "My AVG->My Subscriptions". From here "Enter the activation code" and enter the code you have to activate the product.
You can find this code from your https://myaccount.avg.com/en-us/my-account-login AVG MyAccount.
