Setting Up AVG Email scanner for yahoo

Hello Joseph,

It looks like you are still using the old version of AVG which will have options to setup email scanner for Gmail and other clients.
This option is no longer available with the latest version as it was generalized to scan emails that includes (POP3, IMAP4).
By using the latest version, it is not necessary to setup the email scanner as it scans for the email automatically.
Regarding spam emails, each email provider will have their own "spam filtering engine" which will identify most of the spam emails and move it automatically.
If you find any other spam emails, you can just mark it as spam which will send information regarding it.
If not, you can keep samples of such emails and provide it to the email provider.
Thanks.

I've perused the instructions for setting up AVG scanning for encrypted email as well as those specific to gmail. I'd like to know if the instructions for scanning yahoo email (and outlook for that matter) is any different than those for gmail.

And on a related note: how would one backtrack a spammer to determine where he/she is from and report them to their ISP and email host?

Thank you for understanding.
There are lots of reasons for a user to get the spam emails.
If you contact your email provider, they will be able to provide more information regarding the emails that you get.

I contacted support right after posting this question. It turns out that the article I read was old and won't work with my version of AVG (I have the latest version installed) which means that it is scanning for any viruses attached to the email messages I get.

Still, it would be great to know where these messages are coming from - many have .ru in them and the subject titles are written in Russian; Russians have been targeting Americans for several years now.
