Well AVG have well and truly stuffed it up. I cannot access the files contained in the Recycle Bin as my recycle bin is not considered a folder that can be accessed (as I am sure is the case for everyone using Windows 10).
If i try and locate the pathway to the recycle bin, then it asks if I wish to shred the entire folder which is all well and good if I never want to see the recycle bin again but then I have to hope that when I reboot the PC that it recreates a recycle bin for me at the reboot.
Unless someone can tell me how to only shred the files contained inside the recycle bin, then I guess I will install McAfee which seems to have no issues like this.
Whose the brainiac that decided burying the shred option omly under the settings menu and not embedding it as a right click function on the mouse?
Hello Alok,
I see that the last post on this issue was 5th June 2017. You say that this is a known issue and you are working to fix it! Nearly four months seems rather a long time to me. Is this not being given any sort of priority. I'm sure we in the community are concerned about not being able to securely delete unwanted and sensitive files! When is this issue going to be given the priority it should have?
Regards
Ian
Hello Ashley,
Thank you for your patience. This is a known issue and we are working on a fix (Recycle Bin can't be shred). In this case, I request you to shred the files before moving them to the Recycle Bin.
Best regards,
Alok.

Not true. I have the version 17.6.3029 (latest) and still have the File shredder.
It stopped appearing on the Recycle bin menu in March 2017, but works elsewhere.
Hello Ashley,
Sorry for the inconvenience. The File shredder option is available in the latest version. Kindly, go to Menu -> you will see the "File Shredder" option.
Please contact us if you face any difficulties, we will assist you better.
Thank you.
Is it just me or has anyone else notice that the option to "shred" contents in the recycle bin has gone missing since the upgrade to version 17.4 (now running 17.4.3014).
Is this now only available in the paid version or has it been removed as a feature completely?
Hello C,
Please be informed that in the latest version of AVG the File Shredder option in the right click on recycle bin will not be available if you have only AVG Antivirus installed.
The File Shredder option on recycle bin right click will be available only if you have AVG PC TuneUp installed on your PC.
Apart from recycle bin the shredder option will be available for other folders and files if you have AVG Antivirus 2017 version installed.
Hello Ashley,
We completely understand the concern.
We have escalated this to senior team inorder to get further suggestion.
Please keep checking this post to get further updates. Your patience is much appreciated.

Hi Bhuwavesrani thanks for the reply. I do see that option but in the older versions it used to be embedded in the recycle bin so that all I had to do was right click on the recycle bin to shred. Has this now been removed to only be able to shred through the app settings menu?

Hello Ashley,
The file shredder in the latest version can be run only from the AVG Menu and it is not separately embedded in the recycling bin.
Thank you
