I did that, and AVG even did a full update today that needed a reboot and when I go onto ebay the same thing happens all over again.
If you can't figure this out after 3 weeks, I think I better uninstall and switch.
It has been two weeks and these AVG warning popups continue, saying things have been put into my quarantine when they have not and I can't get rid of them. When I close them they just pop back up.
This has not been resolved, even after uninstalling AVG and reinstalling does not help and AVG scans say the system in clean contrary to the popups. This started right after your June 29, update.
Hello, I have been having the same problem for the last 2 days . What is the fix for this issue ??
James,
Please let us know if you have set DNS to any IP range in network settings. Also uninstall all unused apps, browser extensions and check if the issue still persist. In case it appears again, please let us know if the pop up appears during any specific time or during any specific action happening in the computer.
Thank you for your responses.
I have all the Microsoft patches and keep them up to date, doing a manual check the second Tuesday of every month just to make sure I have them all.
So the problem is in AVG's popup warning that can't be minimized nor closed that make the computer unusable.
As you did not resolve this AVG issue after a month, I was forced to stop using AVG and now use another company's product.

Sorry, but I was unable to use my computer so I uninstalled AVG and replaced it with another product, so I can't provide you with the AVG version anymore.
Do you want to download a fresh copy of AVG and see if that works alright, or if the problem also occurs with that?
With not being able to minimize those pop-ups and with closing them only leading to them only opening up again, it was an untenable situation, which was why after two days of trying to work around it, I did the uninstall.
Hello James,
I am very sorry for the inconvenience caused. Please share the screenshot http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot of the popup to check and assist you further.
Thank you.
SMB:CVE-2017-0144 [Expl]
problem you have put into quarantine, and it gives me two options, to either scan the whole computer (which I don't need to do because I did that yesterday) or close the pop-up.
When I close the pop-up it just opens up again each time.
When I check the quarantine vault, there isn't even any file related to the claimed problem of:
SMB:CVE-2017-0144 [Expl]
The AVG pop-up window is on top of everything and I can't get rid of it.
If I can't solve this, I can't easily use my computer and will just have to give up on AVG and delete the program.
I had no such warning before yesterday's AVG update which needed a reboot.
I am running Windows 7 and have all the Microsoft security updates.
I do have all of the Windows 7 and Adobe updates.
Now some of your popups are even showing as blank rectangles.
Hello James,
I am sorry to hear that the issue still persists. Please send me the screenshot of the AVG version installed in your computer, so I can check the same and assist you further.
With this covering my Desktop and every window I open up even after clearing all my caches, it becomes a huge problem.
If on Tuesday when the Canada Day holiday is over, this is not fixed, I will not be able to use this computer without problems and I will have to delete AVG and it makes my computer just about unusable.
This pop-up will NOT go away and covers anything I try to open up.
I am shocked you did not fix this already as users can't use their computers with your latest software update.

As soon as I go visit ebay using Chrome I get
It happen with various other web pages whether I use Chrome, Firefox, or IE 11, in Windows 7.

Hello, I have been having the same problem for the last 2 days . What is the fix for this issue ??
Here is what the pop-up that keeps popping up.
Hello James,
Yes, please reinstall AVG (www.avg.com/downloads) updated version. If the issue still persist, please contact us again.
Best regards,
Alok.
James, Thank you for providing the screenshot. I can understand how difficult this is for you. The displayed information is confusing as the message says "We've safely locked this file in your quarantine." however no file is later available in the quarantine. The issue is with the message and not with the detection itself as downloaded file is detected and blocked before it is saved to the computer - this is the reason for not showing in the quarantine.
The detected file is the threat but the message shown as moved to quarantine is incorrect.
Please do not worry, this is a known issue and has already escalated to the concerned team. We will fix this threat message moved to quarantine as soon as possible
