On my XP laptop since Thursday 17th 2017 AVG is interfering with my browsers but only on particular
sites/pages. Chrome is fine but FireFox 37.0.2 and IE8 for example view twitter
incorrectly. I just get text eventually after waiting ages for "abs.twimg.com". Turning off
AVG fixes. Most odd behaviour. I have re-installed FireFox and AVG and no better.

I am sorry to hear that. Please disable the Online shield component (AVG>Menu>Settings>Component) and check if the websites are working fine. If you face any difficulties, please provide the screenshot would request you to disable the Online shield component (AVG>Menu>Settings>Component) and check if the of the text message and let us know what AVG program you have installed on your computer.
