This is a multi-issue complaint regarding VPN.
- There doesn’t appear to be a way to review previous support tickets. My most recent support ticket for this issue is 2273327.
- Upon requesting assistance I asked the rep if they reviewed my support history and they said they didn’t have access to it. That’s RIDICULOUS that a support rep cannot see what you have asked for support on previously and what steps were taken already.
- I told the support rep that I had already went through the steps with a previous rep, but agreed once more, but that I had limited time. They changed the SAME setting as before, the VPN protocol from automatic to MIMIC, that didn’t work and then rebooted WITHOUT asking me if it was okay to reboot my device.
- This did not resolve the issue and I was unable to reconnect to the support session. I had to reset the VPN protocol to automatic, reboot and turn ON the VPN before I could reconnect.
- The rep said they were going to repair and reboot AFTER I told them in the beginning that I did not have a time for all of this. I told them no that I did not agree to either and asked for an email to send my complaint to. There was none. They said they would send me an email that I could reply to. At the time of this post, there was no email received.
- There should be an email or online form to outline one’s issue as an option for support. I could have provided more details and background on the issue. The representative didn’t ask me what location I was in or ANYTHING that would be basic info to understand what the problem was. If no form, better train the representatives to ask questions and LISTEN to the answers and not just have the customer repeat the same steps AGAIN.
In the case there is a representative that actually CARES about the details:
- I am on a Windows 11 PC that originated in the US.
- I currently reside in Ghana and regularly connect to and use the VPN for access to US resources.
- Chrome is my default browser and it is always up to date.
- I have attempted on several occasions to access https://chat.openai.com/auth/login from a Chrome browser while connected with the automatic settings to a server in NY. On some occasions I cannot login at all and on others I am able to get past the Cloudflare verification after a few attempts. If I get past the verification, my past chats/requests in ChatGPT will not load.
- Today, 2/5/2025 I attempted to submit a review at https://greatnonprofits.org/ and received a 403 error. After attempting in Firefox browser as well with the same result, I turn the VPN off and was able to access.
What would be helpful to know is if I need to report something to the owner’s of these sites or if it is something in AVG VPN that is causing the traffic to not properly flow to my device through the software. I’m not interested in troubleshooting with the SAME steps as before.
I hope that this complaint can get to somewhere that is actually REVIEWED and it matters, because although I’ve been an AVG customer for many years it doesn’t appear to be an easy way to lodge a complaint to ANYONE.
