'Sleeping' programs with automatic updates

Outdated programs is a feature in AVG TuneUp that keeps commonly used third-party software updated to eliminate potential security risks and improve the overall performance of your system. To specify how AVG TuneUp responds when it detects an outdated program on your PC, go to Menu ▸ Settings ▸ Outdated programs. The following options are available:

Fully automatic updates: AVG TuneUp checks for, downloads, and installs updates automatically. No action is required from you.
Download only: AVG TuneUp automatically checks for and downloads available updates, but you need to install them manually.
Check only: AVG TuneUp checks for available updates, but you need to download and install them manually.

If you don't enable Fully automatic updates, you can check for issues and manage the download and installation of updates by clicking Fix problems on the main AVG TuneUp dashboard. However, I can assure that it will not affect the functionality of the program.

If I 'sleep' a program with automatic updates, will the program open to do it job?  Or should I not put that program to sleep?
