Secondly, do you have any paid subscriptions with AVG?
Please specify if you're using the AVG Antivirus Free.
Thirdly, specify the operating system of the device on which you're facing this issue.

Why does AVG severely slow my HDD transfer speed?

Does it only happen while you're transferring data or while doing other regular tasks as well?
Also, specify the program version of the AVG Antivirus Free installed on your PC.

I opened Task Manager and found AVG had high CPU and Disk usage. I disabled AVG and transfer speed increased 6X
