I turned off and unplugged this H-P Pavilion, then re-started. I first opened Google Chrome and found that my usual 5 programs opened noticeably faster, including a Weather Channel page that's recently been molasses slow. I then plugged in my AVG VPN, and program loading was still appreciably quicker than recently had been. Adding the Internet Security does seem to have slowed those program opens a bit but not to the recent frustratingly sluggish performance. Writing this after getting interrupted so not remembering exact place in the sequence but I did clear the suggested caches.
But something else really crazy happened during all this. After first running a virus scan to be sure G-Chrome would feel AVG's presence I later brought it up again – and got angry red indicators my coverage had expired. Couple of attempts and it quickly corrected (I had recently re-subscribed for 2 years) … but now I'm seeing those red notifications that my Field Shield and Behavior Shield are not operative – and I haven't found a way to move that to an "on" position. This is the first I've ever seen about such things. Is this a new thing being offered; if so, what do I do to accept and get on with using it? Or is it something that has been operating but I've somehow managed to knock offline?
I admit to not being the techiest tool in the trough, but pretty sure I'm doing things the way they're laid out. Getting frustrated over spending this much time on a day I really do have other things I'm supposed to be doing.
Interesting Google-Chrome message as I logged on: "AVG Internet Security (and one other entity, forget what it was) are slowing things down." I do know browser things have been loading irritatingly slower for quite a while but can't track to whether same time I got AVG IS. BTW, I'm also using AVG VPN but there was no mention of that.
I want fastest operation, of course; but no way will I give up my Internet Protection to get it. Can anyone please tell me what – if anything – I can do?
Thanks, I hope.
