In the past 24 fours one of my desktops gotten two warnings of an smb bruteforce attack. I'd like to know if this is coming from another device on my network or instead from outside, but I can't understand the URL (looks sorta like hex but I can't decode it). The message I get is "Incoming connection blocked–We've safely blocked an attempt to connect to your computer using Remote Desktop." The threat name is "SMB:BruteForce; the URL is smb://fe80:83c:f971:acd1:f818 and the process is System.

Could someone enlighten me as to the source of the attack and what I should do about it? Thanks!

I've seen it twice in the past 24 hours. I don't know about any ongoing comms during that time.

Thank you for sharing the screenshot.
Do you see this pop up randomly and repeated often? Was there any communication happening between this PC and the other devices connected in the network?

AVG screenshot SMB:Bruteforce

Thank you for confirming.
It is an IPv6 address. Please check if it belongs to one of your devices or you can be assured that the connection is blocked by AVG.
