Software not Protected

Hello David,

I am sorry to hear that. Please click on "Fix now" and check if that fix the issue. If the issue persists, please repair avgclick.me/RepairAVG AVG from control panel and check.

My AVG Internet Security shows "Software not Protected" in red and will not fix. Any suggestions regarding cause and a way to resolve?

David, I appreciate your efforts in fixing the issue. It seems that you have installed the new version of AVG program. To activate the license, please open AVG Internet Security > Menu > About > Subscription> log out (If you have logged in with your myaccount credentials) > Enter the license. Also, if you wish you can refer this article https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?&urlName=Download-and-install-AVG-Protection to activate AVG with the license.
Thank you for your answers, they are helpful but clicking repair did not help. In the end I removed all AVG programs, which was not easy, and downloaded Internet Security again. In this version, however, I cannot find any way to add my licence number. Help for this problem would be appreciated otherwise it is time to remove AVG altogether.

Thank you Balasubramanian. I am using the paid version 17.5.3022 with my subscription running until February 2019. There was no warning that a new version of AVG was about to be installed. All I got was a number of blood curdling warnings about my computer not being protected and I was trying to solve the same problem that David has described until I realised what had happened. Subsequently I got a number of pop ups asking if I wanted to give certain apps access to my computer. I certainly said yes to the Solitaire but hadn't a clue what the others were. Is it safe to uninstall the previous version 16.151.9167? I am very wary of doing anything in case my whole system goes wrong. I am no tech expert.to be able to dig myself out of any problems.

Hi David - I think you will find that the new version of AVG 17.5.3022 has been automatically installed. It does not appear to over write the previous version and you end up with both, with the old version showing Software not Protected in red as you say. Just have a look for a new AVG icon on your desktop. I don't know whether it is safe to uninstall the old version. An additional problem is that Microsoft Solitaire won't run now. I wish AVG would sort these things before they send out new versions.

Thank you for the detailed information, Peter.
