Something called FSmash takes over my browser

Thirdly, are you facing this issue on your DuckDuckGo browser alone or in your other browsers as well?

I have a new HP chromebook x350 and when choosing a new default browser I chose duckduckgo,  However. when I type in a search request it goes to something called "fsmash",  i looked that up and its basically hijacking my browser  how does this continually slip passed my AVG protection and how do I remove it?
