Hi Ranjani;
I'm very sorry, but I've been very busy lately and have not yet had the time to use the Clear Tool, Remover Tool, and reinstall the AVG Antivirus Free.
However, something strange happened a few days ago. The red circle with an "X" in it which had been over the AVG tray icon changed to a yellow circle with an "!" in it. When I opened AVG Free, the "You are not protected" warning had changed to something to the effect that "Full protection will be available after PC restart". At that point I rebooted the machine and now there is no warning over the AVG tray icon and when I open AVG Free it says "You have basic protection".
So, it would seem AVG Free is now back to normal. Do I still need to run the two removal tools and reinstall AVG Free?
Jim
I'm having a problem with AVG Free saying "WARNING, your system is UNSECURED". I reported this by commenting on a string begun by Roger Flink but have been requested to transfer my problem to my own post. Here is what has transpired so far:

I've got EXACTLY the same problem. It showed up about 3 days ago. What is wrong?

Hello Jim,
This issue shouldn't happen in latest version of 18.6. Let us know the version of AVG you have installed. Open AVG Antivirus -> About -> you can check its version.
Hi Ranjani;
I've attached a screen shot below. I updated to ver 18.6 about 2 weeks ago and everything was fine. This new problem started about 3 days ago.

Hi Ranjani;
I'm not sure what you are asking me to do?

Jim, we'd request you to post your query from your account so that it would be easy to locate your account and to send you the email instructions to resolve this issue, regardless of commenting on other users post.
Yes, Jim.
Thank you for the info.
This isn't the problem related to update issue. Let's try to reinstall AVG Antivirus free and check if it helps.
Please run AVG Clear tool and remover tool as suggested here:
http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product to remove AVG with its traces. Note: Run AVG Clear tool first.
Reinstall AVG Antivirus Free http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Free and let us know its status.

That's great, Jim.
It seems recent update with AVG might fixed this issue. It's not necessary to run AVG Clear and remover tool now. You can follow that steps in future if needed.
We are here if you need further help.
Thank you for the information, Jim.
Could you provide the screenshot of AVG Antivirus free interface to proceed further on this matter?
Jim, it will be convenient if you send us screenshot of the update page.
Eventhough, you are not getting any error, please share us the screenshot of the greyed out page.
Hi Balasubramanian;
Is this the shot you are looking for?
I did include this screenshot with the output from the SysInfo tool, but am happy to provide it again if it is useful to you.
