SONOS desktop controller is blocked by AVG firewall

Hi Jeff,

We're glad to look into this & help you.
Please try modifying the system rules of AVG Firewall by following the steps in this article.
You need to enable 'Allow windows file & printer sharing, remote desktop connections' (1st two options)
You can also enable 'Internet connection sharing mode' (from AVG firewall's setting page).
Please try the above step & let us know if it helps.

Already searched here and the web for an answer, but none found that would fix the issue.

Paid for AVG Internet Security Enhanced Firewall is stopping SONOS desktop controller from connecting to SONOS system.
How do I fix this?
The only remedy I found that works is to completely turn off the AVG enhanced firewall.

I see in Application Rules AVG has auto generated a rule for SONOS so I would have thought AVG would have automatically allowed SONOS to work correctly, but it has not.

I have tried messing with a bunch of setting and worst result was Windows 7 blue screened on me and crashed while adjusting AVG settings. FIRST TIME ever Win 7 has crashed for me. Not impressed with paid AVG. Been using free for years and thought I'd do the right thing and pay for 3 years subscription. Not so sure this was a good idea now.

I am glad that your issue has been resolved, Jeff
