During a PowerPoint presentation, which I have done MANY times, a warning that my AVG virus-protection would soon expire, popped up on the external monitor to which my laptop was attached via a brand new HDMI cord.
Coinciding with the unexpected pop-up, a loud, whining, siren-like alarm was heard. At first, I thought it was a fire alarm in the building. Then, I realized that it was coming from my computer
and immediately unplugged it from the HDMI cord.
As soon as I reconnected the cord, the pop-up disappeared and the siren stopped. Nothing seemed hot or abnormal. There was a set of small, external speakers plugged into the laptop, but they hadn't been working and the sound wasn't coming from them.
HAS ANYONE EVER EXPERIENCED THIS? This wasn't a lost phone alarm or an alarm clock sound.
